Travel eSIM
Compare travel eSIM plans that cover several Asian countries on one eSIM, with prices updated daily. We compare regional and global plans from Airalo, Breeze, KnowRoaming, and Land&Go by Mozillion, and we are adding more providers. These plans suit backpacking routes through South East Asia, trips that combine Japan and South Korea, and stopovers on the way to Australia.
We may earn a commission if you buy a travel eSIM through our links. This does not affect how deals are ranked.
Features are shown where confirmed by the provider.
Plan prices, data allowances, validity, and features come from retailer feeds and are refreshed daily. Plans are sorted by lowest price by default, and you can sort or filter by data, trip length, coverage type, and provider. Each plan’s name shows how many countries it covers. Open “Countries covered” on a plan to see the full list. We may earn a commission when you buy through our links, but this does not change the order plans appear in.
The guidance below was checked against provider terms in October 2026. You can compare other destinations on our travel eSIM hub.
Airalo charges in US dollars. We show an approximate price in pounds using a daily exchange rate, so the amount on your statement may differ slightly. Your card provider may also add a fee for paying in a foreign currency.
A regional plan usually works out cheaper once your trip covers three or more countries, and it saves installing a new eSIM at each border. If most of your trip is in one country with a short stop elsewhere, a country plan for the main destination can be better value. See our Japan and Thailand pages.
Asia is outside the European roaming zones included in most UK plans, so using your UK SIM there usually means a daily charge or pay as you go rates. Check what your network charges before you travel in our roaming guides.
The plans on this page come in these regional and global types:
Country lists differ between providers. Check that every stop on your route appears in the plan’s country list before you buy.
Trips across Asia are often long, so check the validity as carefully as the data. The plans on this page last from 1 day to 6 months. Plans marked "Top-ups available" on their tile let you add data on a longer trip without installing a new eSIM. For other plans, check the provider's terms.
For two weeks with maps, messaging, social media, and ride-hailing apps such as Grab, 10GB is usually enough. Allow 25GB or unlimited for a month, or if you plan to work remotely, stream, or hotspot a laptop.
Messaging apps differ by country: LINE is widely used in Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan, KakaoTalk in South Korea, and WeChat in China. Install the ones you need and set up any accounts before you leave, while you can still receive verification texts on your UK number.
An Asia eSIM connects to a partner network in each country it covers. If you fly between countries, it usually connects within a minute of landing. If you cross a land border, such as between Thailand and Cambodia or Vietnam and Laos, signal can take longer to switch over, and coverage is often weak in border areas. If your phone shows no service, switch airplane mode on and off, or choose a network manually in your settings.
You can check which networks a plan uses in each country in the plan details on the provider's site.
On a Chinese SIM, many foreign apps and sites, including Google services, WhatsApp, and Instagram, do not work. Many travel eSIMs route your data through a network outside China, so these apps may work as they do at home, but this depends on the provider and is not guaranteed. Check the provider's terms for China before you buy if you rely on these apps.
Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used for payments in China, so set them up and link a card before you travel.
Buy the plan and install the eSIM profile before you travel, while you are on reliable Wi-Fi, using the QR code or the provider app. Check when the plan's validity starts: most start when the eSIM first connects in Asia, but some start on install. Follow the provider's instructions on when to switch the line on.
After arriving, turn on the eSIM line, set it as your data line, and turn on data roaming for the eSIM line. Most travel eSIMs will not connect without it. Turn off data roaming on your UK line so your UK network does not charge you for data.
If there is no connection after a minute, switch airplane mode on and off once. You can keep your UK line on for calls and texts on your usual number, but calls and texts received abroad may still be charged by your UK network. If you are not sure your phone supports eSIM, check our eSIM compatibility guide before you buy.
Keep data roaming on for the eSIM line for your whole trip. The eSIM needs it to connect in each new country.
Answers to common questions about using a regional travel eSIM in Asia.
Most of them do. The Airalo, KnowRoaming and Land&Go Asia plans on this page cover both. Breeze Asia covers South Korea but not Japan. Check every destination on your route before you buy.
Yes. The 17-country Asia plans cover all three, along with Laos and Malaysia.
Yes, if both countries are on the plan. Signal can be weak near borders and may take a few minutes to switch, so download offline maps for the crossing.
Most regional plans on this page last up to 30 days, but some last up to 6 months, as do the global plans. For a longer trip, choose a longer plan, or one that allows top-ups.
On many travel eSIMs they do, because data is routed outside China, but it depends on the provider. Check the plan's terms before you buy.
