All stated costs assume that you will pay your monthly charges via direct debit, unless otherwise stated. Networks that require payment via direct debit may charge you a higher monthly cost if you do not pay via direct debit.
Ofcom-accredited price comparison
SIM Only Finder is accredited by Ofcom, the UK's independent regulator for communications services. Accreditation is awarded to comparison sites that meet Ofcom's standards for accuracy, transparency, and impartiality.
This means the deals you compare here are checked for accuracy, presented without bias toward any network, and reflect the actual cost you would pay. We do not promote deals based on commission earned.
Which networks offer £5 SIM only deals?
You'll find deals from Spusu, Mozillion, Lycamobile, EcoTalk, and Asda Mobile. Spusu, Mozillion, Lycamobile, and EcoTalk all run on EE, while Asda Mobile runs on Vodafone. The underlying network determines your coverage, so if you already know whether EE or Vodafone works better where you live and work, that's a useful starting point. For a broader look at how the main networks compare on coverage, our network coverage guide is worth a read.
Do I need a credit check on a £5 SIM only contract?
Not always. The budget MVNOs here, including Spusu, Mozillion, Lycamobile, EcoTalk, Lebara, and Asda Mobile, typically offer no credit check options, though which deals qualify changes as the listings update. Sky Mobile is the exception, as it credit checks every application, so the £1.00 deal is not the place to start if your credit history is a concern. Look for the no credit check label on the card, or use the filter above. Our no credit check SIM only deals page rounds them up.
Which £5 SIM only deal is worth your money right now?
Sky Mobile at £1.00 a month is the pick on headline price: 1GB, unlimited minutes and texts, 5G, and data rollover, on a 12 month contract on O2. That is £12.00 across the year. Read the promotional pricing section below first, and note that Sky runs a credit check.
If you would rather not tie yourself in, Spusu at £2.90 a month is the pick: 1GB, 500 minutes, 500 texts, 5G, free EU roaming, no annual price rises, and no credit check, on a 30 day rolling contract on EE. Your £2.90 stays £2.90, which is rare at this end of the market. The 3GB version is £3.90 on the same terms.
If data matters more, Spusu has 5GB with unlimited minutes and texts at £4.50, still rolling. Lycamobile gives you 5GB with 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and 100 international minutes for £4.00, but on a 24 month contract, so it saves 50p a month for a two year tie-in. Read up on mid-contract price rises before committing to any 12 or 24 month deal.
Watch out for promotional pricing
Sky Mobile's £1.00 1GB plan is a promotional offer on a 12 month minimum term and is subject to a credit check. Sky states that the offer is available on new plans and that the data plan price may increase during the minimum term, so check the current terms before signing up. If predictable pricing matters more than the lowest headline figure, Spusu states that it does not apply annual price rises.
Can I get an eSIM on a £5 SIM only contract?
Yes, though not every network supports them. Sky Mobile, Spusu, Mozillion, Lycamobile, and Asda Mobile all have eSIM-compatible deals under £5. Use the eSIM filter above, or compare the full range on our eSIM deals page. Unsure whether your handset supports one? Our eSIM guide explains how to check.
Does 5G come as standard on £5 SIM only deals?
Yes, on nearly all of them. The Sky Mobile, Spusu, Mozillion, Lycamobile, EcoTalk, and Lebara deals all include 5G at no extra cost, though check the badge on the card, as not every plan at this price carries it. Whether you can use it also depends on your handset and location. EE and Vodafone have strong 5G coverage in most major UK cities, and O2 reaches most of them, though independent testing consistently puts its speeds behind. Our network coverage guide is worth a look.
30 day vs 12 month vs 24 month: which is right for you?
At £5 and under, all three are available. Spusu's rolling plan gives you maximum flexibility without giving up a fixed price. Twelve months is where the promotional pricing sits: Sky Mobile's £1.00 deal needs a year's commitment, and Lycamobile's 12 month 5GB plan is £4.50. The same plan on 24 months is £4.00, so a second year of tie-in buys you 50p a month. If you value flexibility or are unsure about coverage, 30 day rolling is the safer choice.
How we rank £5 SIM only deals
By default, deals are sorted by lowest monthly price. You can change the sort order at any time using the controls above the listings and filter by data allowance, contract length, minutes, and eSIM availability. All deals shown are updated automatically. SIM Only Finder is an Ofcom-accredited UK mobile comparison site and earns a commission on deals taken out via our links. This does not affect how deals are ranked.
