The Best SMARTY Mobile SIM Only Deals for Every Budget
Smarty offers 30-day rolling SIM-only plans exclusively, with data allowances from 2GB to unlimited. All plans include unlimited calls and texts, 5G access, and EU roaming as standard. Use the filters above to narrow by data allowance, contract length, and monthly cost.
SMARTY SIM Only
Smarty keeps things simple. Plans start from £5 per month for 2GB of data on a data-only basis, or from £6 per month for plans that include unlimited calls and texts. Data allowances go up to unlimited, and all plans run on a 30-day rolling basis with no exit penalty.
Smarty offers a data discount feature on smaller plans: if you do not use your full allowance in a given month, Smarty credits you back for the unused data at the end of the billing period. Group Plans are also available, allowing up to eight people to share a group account with a 10% discount on each SIM.
There are no credit checks and no annual price increases. Because all plans are 30-day rolling, Smarty can change the renewal price from month to month, but there are no mid-contract price rises. If the price goes up on renewal, you can simply leave without penalty.
An Introduction To SMARTY Mobile
SMARTY Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that was launched by Hutchison 3G UK Limited, the company behind Three UK. SMARTY runs on Three's network, offering the same coverage and speeds as Three but at lower prices.
SMARTY was launched with the aim of shaking up the mobile market by offering customers a more uncomplicated and more honest service. SMARTY plans are all SIM-only, with no contracts or hidden fees. Customers can also get money back for the data they don't use. The company has quickly become one of the most popular MVNOs in the UK.
SMARTY offers a great perk if you have a family with several smartphones in use. You can save 10% on every SIM with a SMARTY Group Plan. This means you can bring your whole family under one roof and save money.
With SMARTY Group Plans, you can choose plans for each member of your family that suit their individual needs and get 10% off every SIM. You can add up to 8 SIMs to your group, including the group owner, and manage your family's mobile accounts from one place.
Simply create a SMARTY Group and add your family members. You can also easily change plans or add or remove members from your group anytime.
What Network Does SMARTY Mobile Run On?
Smarty runs on Three's network, which covers approximately 99% of the UK population for 4G. Since the Vodafone and Three UK merger completed in 2025, Smarty customers can also access Vodafone masts in areas where Three signal is weaker, extending coverage further at no extra cost.
Smarty is an excellent option for customers looking for wide coverage at competitive prices, particularly now that dual-network access is available through the merged VodafoneThree infrastructure.
Can I Get Unlimited Data With a SMARTY Mobile SIM?
Smarty offers an unlimited data plan on a 30-day rolling contract at £18 per month. It includes unlimited calls and texts and uncapped 5G speeds with no speed restrictions. You can cancel at any time.
For customers who do not need unlimited data, Smarty's fixed allowance plans start from 2GB and include the same unlimited calls and texts. Smaller plans with data allowances up to 15GB include a data discount feature, which refunds unused data at the end of each month.
Can I Use My SMARTY Mobile SIM Abroad?
With Smarty, you can use your UK allowance of calls, texts, and up to 12GB of data per month across over 44 European destinations at no extra cost. Before you travel, you will need to enable roaming through your Smarty account settings. Smarty does not activate this automatically, but full instructions are available on the Smarty website.
Outside the EU, Smarty does not include roaming in your monthly plan. Pay-as-you-go out-of-plan add-ons are available for international destinations, but rates vary. Check Smarty's roaming charges page before travelling outside Europe.
Can I Get 5G With SMARTY Mobile?
SMARTY offers 5G on all of its SIM-only plans at no extra cost. However, you will need a 5G-enabled device to access 5G speeds.
To check if your device is compatible with SMARTY's 5G network, visit the SMARTY website and use their device checker. Enter the make and model of your device, and SMARTY will tell you if it is compatible with 5G.
If you have a 5G-enabled device in a 5G coverage area, you will automatically connect to the 5G network. You do not need to do anything else.
SMARTY's 5G network is available in most major UK cities and towns, and SMARTY is constantly expanding its coverage. To check if 5G is available in your area, you can use SMARTY's coverage checker.
Smarty has completed its 3G switch-off, focusing network resources on 4G and 5G. Customers using older devices that relied on 3G will need a 4G or 5G-compatible handset to use Smarty.
Can I Get A SMARTY Mobile SIM If I Have A Bad Credit Rating?
Smarty does not run a credit check on new customers. This is because all plans are 30-day rolling contracts with no long-term financial commitment. There is no fixed-term contract, so if you are not satisfied after a month, you can leave without penalty.
This makes Smarty a practical option for customers who have been declined by other networks on credit grounds, or who simply prefer to avoid a credit check.
Which Size SIM Cards Can I Get With SMARTY Mobile?
There are three different SIM card sizes: standard, micro, and nano. The type of SIM card you need depends on your phone or tablet.
SMARTY SIMs come with all three sizes combined in one plastic card. Just pop out the one you need, and you are ready. So whether you have an older phone or the latest smartphone, SMARTY has the right SIM card for your needs.
Can I Switch SMARTY and Keep My Number?
You can switch from your current network to Smarty and keep your existing number at any time. To do this, request a PAC code from your current provider by texting PAC to 65075. Your PAC code will be valid for 30 days. Once you have it, enter the code during the Smarty sign-up process and Smarty will handle the number transfer.
Because Smarty operates on 30-day rolling contracts, there is no exit penalty if you decide to leave Smarty in future. The switching process usually takes around 24 hours, though it can occasionally take up to 48 hours.
You can read more about switching to Smarty using our dedicated SMARTY Switching Guide.
Does SMARTY Mobile Have Good Coverage?
Smarty uses Three's network, which covers approximately 99% of the UK population for 4G. Since the Vodafone and Three UK merger completed in 2025, Smarty customers can also access Vodafone masts automatically in areas where Three coverage is weaker, which has meaningfully improved coverage, particularly in some rural areas.
5G is available in over 300 towns and cities across the UK through Three's network. As with any network, rural signal can be variable. Use Smarty's coverage checker to confirm signal at your specific postcode before switching.
For more information on coverage and coverage checkers, you can read our Your Ultimate Guide to Network Coverage guide.
Is The SMARTY Mobile Network Fast?
Smarty customers access Three's full 4G and 5G network with no speed caps, meaning there is no throttling of Smarty traffic relative to Three customers. Three consistently ranks among the fastest UK networks for 5G speeds in independent testing, and Smarty inherits those speeds directly.
For 4G, speeds in well-covered areas are sufficient for streaming, browsing, and video calls. Rural and indoor performance depends on signal strength at your location. Network congestion during peak hours can reduce speeds in busy urban areas, as with any network.
How Reliable Is SMARTY Mobile?
Smarty's reliability is primarily tied to Three's network, which offers wide UK coverage and some of the fastest 5G speeds in independent testing. The VodafoneThree merger has further strengthened coverage in areas where Three historically had weaker signal, making Smarty a more reliable option in those locations than previously.
Three has consistently won network performance awards for 5G speed and coverage reach. Smarty customers benefit from the same infrastructure with no speed restrictions applied.
Does SMARTY Mobile Have Good Customer Service?
Smarty's customer service receives generally positive reviews for a budget MVNO. On Trustpilot, it currently holds a score of approximately 4.0 out of 5, rated Great, from over 46,000 reviews as of April 2026. In Which?'s January 2025 customer satisfaction survey, Smarty ranked first out of 16 networks with an 82% customer score.
Support is available via live chat on the Smarty website, email, and social media. There is no phone support line, which is a practical limitation for customers who prefer to speak to someone directly. The Smarty app and online account portal cover most routine account tasks without needing to contact support.
The main limitation noted consistently in reviews is that live chat can be slow to connect to a human agent, with automated responses handling initial queries.
