Spusu, the budget MVNO running on EE's network, announced a price freeze on all its plans, committing not to raise prices for customers. While larger UK mobile providers routinely increase the cost of their contracts each April, spusu said its customers would not pay any extra for the duration of the freeze. At a time when the cost of living was putting pressure on household budgets, the commitment was welcomed by customers looking for predictable monthly bills.
A commitment in uncertain times
The decision by spusu to freeze prices was a deliberate contrast to the approach taken by the major UK networks. Networks such as EE, O2, Three, and Vodafone regularly apply annual price rises, often in April, citing rising operational costs and inflation. Spusu's managing director Christian Bahrans explained the reasoning at the time: the network had seen the impact of rising bills on customers and wanted to offer stability rather than add to the pressure.
All spusu plans are 30-day rolling, which already gave customers more flexibility than longer contracts. The price freeze added a further layer of certainty, allowing both new and existing customers to lock in their monthly cost without worrying about April increases.
Current spusu pricing
Spusu plans currently start from £3.90 per month for 3GB of data with 500 minutes and 500 texts, rising to larger data allowances at higher price points. All plans include EU roaming, 500 minutes from the UK to EU countries, no credit check, and no annual price rises. Spusu has committed to no price rises through to at least 2027, continuing a price freeze it has now maintained since launching in the UK.
