Which Networks Use Vodafone? Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile and Voxi Compared

Four MVNOs use Vodafone's network in the UK: Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, and Voxi. All four offer the same 4G and 5G coverage as Vodafone itself, with different contract terms, roaming policies, and pricing. Since the VodafoneThree merger completed in May 2025, customers of all four MVNOs are also gradually gaining access to Three's masts through a network-sharing arrangement, which expands coverage in many areas. This guide explains what each MVNO offers and what the merger means in practice. Verified in May 2026.

How we put this guide together

To put this guide together, we reviewed the four MVNOs currently running on Vodafone's network in May 2026, checking contract terms, 5G access, roaming policies, and price rise terms directly against each network's published terms. We also drew on our broader experience reviewing UK SIM-only networks and tracking how MVNO arrangements have changed over time, including the ongoing integration following the VodafoneThree merger. Coverage reliability assessments reference the most recent Opensignal UK Mobile Network Experience Report and Ofcom Connected Nations data.

What "uses Vodafone's network" actually means

Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, and Voxi are MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators). They do not own mast infrastructure. Instead, they buy wholesale access from Vodafone and resell SIM plans under their own brands. The signal you receive on your phone is the same Vodafone signal that a Vodafone direct customer would get in the same location, with one important addition that has changed since the VodafoneThree merger, covered in the next section.

4G and 5G coverage on Vodafone is identical to Vodafone on all four MVNOs. What changes between the host network and its MVNOs is the contract terms, the extras, and the price. Vodafone supports Wi-Fi Calling and 4G Calling, also known as VoLTE, which routes voice calls over the 4G network rather than older 2G or 3G connections to give faster call setup and better audio quality. Support for Wi-Fi Calling on Vodafone MVNOs varies: Asda Mobile supports it as standard, while Voxi offers it only to selected customers on an invitation basis. This is worth checking before signing up if you have weak indoor signal at home.

Vodafone's 4G coverage reaches around 99% of the UK population. On 5G geographic coverage, Ofcom's Connected Nations 2025 report places Vodafone fourth among the major UK networks, behind EE, O2, and Three, with 9% to 17% of UK landmass covered. The post-merger network sharing with Three helps close this gap, particularly in areas where Three previously had stronger 5G coverage.

What the VodafoneThree merger means for you

Vodafone UK and Three UK completed their merger on 31 May 2025, forming VodafoneThree. The combined company is the UK's largest mobile network by subscriber count, with over 27 million customers across its brands. The two networks continue to operate under separate brand names, and your Vodafone SIM still says "Vodafone" on your phone. What has changed is what happens underneath.

VodafoneThree is gradually rolling out a technology called Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN), which allows Vodafone customers to connect to Three masts and vice versa, automatically selecting the strongest signal. VodafoneThree confirmed around 500 MOCN-enabled mast sites in August 2025, with a target of around 10,000 sites enabled by March 2026 and full nationwide rollout expected by 2033. The MOCN benefit was first made available to VodafoneThree-owned brands (Vodafone, Three, VOXI, Smarty, and Talkmobile), and third-party MVNOs including Asda Mobile and Lebara are gaining access on a rolling basis.

In practice this means that a Vodafone, Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, or Voxi customer in an MOCN-enabled area gets the choice of two networks instead of one, which expands coverage in places where one network had a weak signal. Opensignal's October 2025 analysis projects that once integration is complete, Vodafone customers will see around a 7% improvement in coverage experience, while Three customers will see around a 13% improvement. Your phone makes the switching decision automatically and there is nothing you need to do. 5G Standalone (5G SA) is not yet part of MOCN, so any 5G SA benefits are still tied to your home network.

Asda Mobile

Asda Mobile is the supermarket-owned MVNO running on Vodafone's network, offering SIM-only plans focused on simplicity and value. All Asda Mobile plans run on 30-day rolling contracts, so there is no long-term commitment and no exit fee if you change your mind. There is no credit check on any plan.

5G is included on all plans at no extra cost, and Wi-Fi Calling is supported. Data rollover is included on pay monthly plans, where unused data carries over to the following month. EU roaming is included in 46 European destinations on all plans at no extra cost, subject to a 5GB monthly fair usage cap. Asda Mobile added eSIM support to its Pay As You Go range in 2026, having been later than most networks to introduce it.

Plans start from £5 per month and include unlimited UK calls and texts across the range. The pricing is consistently competitive at the low to mid data tiers. Asda Mobile does not chase the premium end of the market: there are no streaming bundles, app perks, or rewards programmes. Customer service is handled online and over the phone, with no physical store presence outside of Asda supermarket top-up points.

Best for: Cost-conscious customers who want Vodafone coverage on a 30-day rolling plan with data rollover, Wi-Fi Calling, and eSIM support. A good fit for customers who already shop at Asda and prefer a single trusted brand.

Lebara

Lebara is the longest-established Vodafone MVNO covered in this guide, founded in 2001 and originally built around international calling. The network has built a strong reputation for affordable plans with generous international minutes included as standard, making it a popular choice for customers who regularly call friends and family abroad.

All Lebara plans include free international calling minutes to over 40 countries, including India, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, the USA, Australia, and Thailand. This is the network's clearest differentiator and reflects its origins as an international calling card provider. Plans are SIM-only on 30-day rolling or 12-month terms, with prices starting from around £5 per month. There is no credit check on any plan.

5G is included on all plans at no extra cost. EU roaming is included with a 30GB fair usage cap, and unusually, free roaming also extends to India and Ukraine. Lebara has committed to no mid-contract price rises and has not raised SIM-only prices since 2020, with that commitment extended through 2026. This is one of the longest-running price freezes in the UK MVNO market.

Customer service is handled through online chat, phone, and the Lebara app. There are no physical stores. For Lebara customers who already use it, the combination of international minutes, EU and India roaming, and price-freeze commitment is hard to beat at the price point.

Best for: Customers who make regular international calls, especially to India, Pakistan, Poland, or other commonly bundled destinations. Also a strong choice for anyone who wants a long-term price-freeze commitment on Vodafone coverage.

Talkmobile

Talkmobile is a Vodafone-owned MVNO (now part of VodafoneThree) and is positioned as Vodafone's budget brand. The network focuses on straightforward, low-cost SIM-only plans without the complexity of streaming bundles or app perks. Plans are available on 30-day rolling or 12-month terms, with no credit check required on SIM-only.

5G is included on all plans at no extra cost, and all plans come with unlimited UK calls and texts. Tethering is supported. EU roaming is included in over 40 European destinations with a 5GB fair usage cap per month, which is in line with Asda Mobile but more restrictive than Lebara's 30GB cap. If you regularly use mobile data abroad, Lebara is the more generous Vodafone-based option. Talkmobile has committed to no annual price rises on its current plans.

Because Talkmobile is owned by VodafoneThree, it was among the first networks to benefit from MOCN access when the merger completed, meaning Talkmobile customers in MOCN-enabled areas have been able to connect to Three masts as well as Vodafone masts since June 2025. Customer service is handled online and over the phone. There are no physical stores.

Best for: Cost-conscious customers who want Vodafone coverage with simple, low-cost plans and a no-price-rise commitment. The longest track record of access to the post-merger MOCN coverage benefits among Vodafone MVNOs. Regular European travellers should consider Lebara for its higher 30GB roaming cap.

Voxi

Voxi is Vodafone's youth-focused MVNO, launched in 2017 and aimed at customers who spend significant time on social media and streaming. The network's clearest differentiator is Endless Social Media, which is included on all plans and means that selected social apps (including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X) do not count against your monthly data allowance, subject to fair usage. Plans with 30GB or more data also include Endless Video, covering streaming on Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, and TikTok.

All Voxi plans run on 30-day rolling contracts, with no credit check. 5G is included at no extra cost, and the network supports eSIM. Wi-Fi Calling is offered selectively rather than by default, and Voxi contacts customers individually when they are eligible. EU roaming is not free as standard, which is a meaningful drawback. A small group of destinations (including the Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland, and Norway, grouped as Voxi's Zone A) is included free on all plans. For most other European destinations, you need to buy a Voxi European Roaming Pass, which starts at £2.45 per day with reductions for 8 and 15-day passes. A 20GB fair usage cap applies during roaming.

Plans range from £10 per month upwards and include unlimited UK calls and texts. Voxi has committed to no mid-contract price rises on its current plans. Customer service is handled through online chat and social media; there is no phone support. Because Voxi is owned by VodafoneThree, it was among the first networks to benefit from MOCN access when the merger completed.

Best for: Heavy social media and streaming users who want Vodafone coverage with data-free access to the apps they actually use. Less suitable if you travel regularly in the EU and want included roaming.

How to choose between Vodafone and a Vodafone MVNO

Going direct to Vodafone gives you access to the VeryMe Rewards app, generous EU roaming on most plans, and the network's wider contract structures including custom term lengths. Vodafone's own SIM-only pricing has historically been higher than its MVNOs, and customers are subject to annual mid-contract price rises in line with Vodafone's published terms.

Going with an MVNO almost always gets you a lower monthly price for equivalent data and minutes. Asda Mobile is the most flexible everyday-value option, with data rollover and Wi-Fi Calling on a 30-day plan. Lebara is the best for international calling and the longest-running price freeze, and has the most generous EU roaming cap at 30GB. Talkmobile is the cheapest entry-point and was among the first to get MOCN coverage benefits. Voxi is the right choice for heavy social media and streaming users, but its lack of free EU roaming counts against it for travellers.

Coverage is identical on the underlying Vodafone network across all five options, with all MVNOs and Vodafone customers gradually gaining shared access to Three's masts via MOCN. The choice comes down to contract terms, extras, and price. For details on how each network's price rise terms compare across the wider market, see our guide to SIM-only mid-contract price rises.

Conclusion

The four MVNOs running on Vodafone's network in May 2026 are Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, and Voxi. All four offer the same 4G and 5G coverage as Vodafone itself, with different contract terms, roaming policies, and pricing. Asda Mobile is the best for everyday value with data rollover. Lebara is the best for international calling and the most generous EU roaming. Talkmobile is the cheapest entry-point with the longest MOCN access track record. Voxi is the best for heavy social media and streaming users. The VodafoneThree merger means all five networks (including Vodafone itself) are gradually gaining MOCN access to Three masts, with VodafoneThree targeting around 10,000 enabled sites by March 2026 and full nationwide rollout expected by 2033.

How to switch to a Vodafone-based network

To switch from your current network to Asda Mobile, Lebara, Talkmobile, or Voxi while keeping your existing phone number, you need a PAC code from your current provider. Text PAC to 65075 from the number you want to transfer and your network will reply with the code within a minute. The code is valid for 30 days. Give it to your new network when you sign up, and your number will transfer within one working day. For network-specific switching steps, see our guides for switching to Asda Mobile, switching to Lebara, switching to Talkmobile, switching to Voxi, or switching to Vodafone.

If you do not need to keep your number, you can simply order a new SIM from the network of your choice and start using it straight away.

Editorial policy

This guide is produced by the SIM Only Finder editorial team to help readers compare the MVNOs running on Vodafone's network. Network terms, pricing, and feature availability are checked regularly and updated to reflect current offers. Always confirm current terms directly with the network before signing up.
